Letters from Home Victoria

Lists of unclaimed letters held at Australian Post Offices in the period 1830-1870. In this period, many people lived far away from post offices and those offices were few and far between. While efforts were made to deliver post, with people moving frequently and often too distant, the post offices advertised what letters they had unclaimed, prompting people to call in to collect them. These lists can be useful when trying to find people with no determinable address.
