- A town of growing importance at Port Curtis; 328 miles north from Brisbane by North Coast Railway. Gladstone has one of the finest natural harbours in the Commonwealth and is the port at which passengers and mails are shipped for North Queensland. A fast mail service plies weekly between here and all Northern ports. The town is surrounded by a rich agricultural and dairying district. Gold copper coal and numerous other valuable minerals are also found. Gladstone is 67 miles by rail from Rockhampton. Good boating fishing shooting and oystering.
