A town on the Johnstone River 893 miles north from Brisbane and 145 miles north from Townsville. A rich sugar-growing and banana district. Scenery of the district beautiful. Exceptionally heavy annual rainfall produces luxuriant growth in the rich scrub lands. The district has many places of interest to who can spend a few days there if travelling by the smaller coast steamers which visit the Northern ports. Some beautiful waterfalls in the neighbourhood—Cowley Falls Tully Falls &c. Good fishing shooting boating.
