An important city on the Mary River; 167 miles from Brisbane on the North Coast Railway. The city is the outlet for a splendid district which is valuable in dairying agriculture fruit growing and mining. Large quantities of timber are sawn annually by the local sawmills who export largely to meet the requirements of the Southern markets. A large trade is done also in the export of coal which is of excellent quality and found in large quantity near Maryborough. The town is well laid out and the climate is healthy. There are many places of interest to visitors within easy reach of the town.
